Welcome back, friend! I can’t wait to introduce you to my Mystery Person #2.
In case you’re just waking up from a long summer’s nap and have no idea what this mystery person business is all about, I’m happy to explain. Just for fun, I’ve created a Wall of Fame in my upstairs hallway, and each week, I add a new famous person to the wall–someone I find inspiring and remarkable. So every Thursday, remarkable friend, I pour you a cup of coffee and hope that you’ll let yourself in for a little guessing game about the day’s inductee. I love getting cool people together!
If you missed meeting the first lovely man to grace my wall, check him out here. He’s quite the fascinating fellow. He might ask you for a quick wrestling match, if he’s not too enamored with this week’s person to leave her side. But who could blame him? She’s smart, she’s sassy, and when she sings? My soul takes flight! No wonder she loves butterflies!
Shoot. I showed my cards too early. Have you already guessed who she is? Too bad for me. I can’t take it back. Just play along.
Yes, as I was saying, she loves butterflies. I wanted her to feel at home on my wall, so I painted her nineteen of them to flutter about and nest in her hair.
Nineteen? Now, that’s a coincidence. She was nineteen years old when she teased her hair into a beehive and posed for the pic I used in this collage. I can’t wait for you to see it. But not yet! We’ve got clues to discuss. Clues I could’ve sneaked into my portrait, if I’d wanted to.
Clues like a sack of cornmeal, since that’s what her Daddy used to pay the doctor when she was born.
Clues like a log cabin. Or the church where she started singing.
There are tons of clues I could’ve added. Like her eleven siblings. Hannah Montana. A famous sheep named after her.
I almost included one these guys as a clue, but the butterflies chased them away.
This guy sneaked in, though, and made a nest over her left ear. Recognize him? He looks a little nervous about that butterfly.
Wait a second. He’s not the only non-butterfly flier!
Look, it’s Harry Potter! And Wilbur’s popping out of our Mystery Person’s hair! What’s Charlotte doing hanging from Harry’s broom?
And what are these guys doing there?
Why have I got kids’ book characters hanging out with her and the butterflies? She writes non-stop, but for adults, not kids. She’s written over 3000 songs over her seventy year career!
Hold on a minute. Is that a train I hear?
It is! He’s loaded up with goodies for the kids, trying to get over her mountain of hair. I think I can, I think I can!
Our Mystery Person would identify, I’m sure. She loves giving goodies to the children. In fact, she’s gifted over 318 million books to kids worldwide through her Imagination Library program!
You’ve guessed her by now, I’m sure, so I’ll just go ahead and pour myself a cup of ambition and present her portrait.
Friend, I’m delighted to introduce you to Dolly Parton!
(Click on the portrait for a better look at that breathtaking beehive!)

Dolly, I will always love you!
Thanks for stopping by, friend!
See you next Thursday to meet my next Mystery Person!
Love, Becky 🙂
