Welcome back, friend, to my Wall of Fame, the little space upstairs where I celebrate cool people I admire with collages I make. They’re not perfect people by any means, but just seeing their faces lights me up! So far you’ve met AbeDollyMary, Josephine, Vincent, and Fred, and this week it’s my joy to introduce you to Mystery Person #7.

No, he’s not your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But he collects the comic books!

Notice the skyscrapers in the background?

I’m pretty sure my MP #7 loves that skyline.

(No, it’s not my son, Sam– though I admire him too!)

Come to think of it, Sam does love shooting hoops!

But the smell of cooked broccoli used to make the boy retch. And whine.

Our MP #7 once told some school kids that broccoli is his favorite food. Was he trying to impress his wife? Maybe. She’s big on healthy food from the garden.

For his portrait, I painted him this to wear.

I have no doubt he could do a nice hula.

I don’t think he wears much jewelry, but he might like this ring. It shows off the birthstones of his three favorite ladies–and it sort of matches Spidey’s outfit.

What was it that Spidey used to say? With great power comes great responsibility. This is my gift, my curse.

I’m pretty darn sure my MP #7 considered his power all gift, no curse.

He acted like it was a privilege, a chance to make things better for all American people–people who needed healthcare, people who wanted the right to live and love and marry like anybody else.

So I made him this cufflink.

I could easily come up with 44 reasons to love him, but that’s me. It might not be you, but you’ve got to admit, like an opponent once said, “he’s a decent family man, [a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with…”

I sure miss that decent family man.

But anytime I want, I can step into my hallway and enjoy his smile–and all the hope he gave me. Hope I still reach for, down deep.

Allow me to introduce you to Barack Obama!

Click on the photo if you’d like to see his friendship bracelet and what’s in his pocket. 🙂

If you love him too, you’ve got to make a trip to his library in Chicago. Even if you don’t have tickets (they’re hard to come by and we didn’t have them) there’s a ton of things to see on the grounds.

Thanks for playing along, y’all!

See you next Thursday for Mystery Person #8!

🙂 Becky
